Jaimie Shires

Hello
I am passionate about supporting others on their journey of personal or professional expansion. I have a unique knack for connecting with and understanding people of all walks of life, ensuring each person I speak to feels seen, heard and appreciated. I believe my job as a supervisor and therapist is to facilitate inner exploration and acceptance, as well as provide perspective, guidance and support.
My Story
I am a hispanic American who traded the sunny beaches of Miami, Florida for the green rolling hills of the UK. My early career path led me to the corporate world of recruitment and insurance. However, I was very happy to give it up to raise my 3 beautiful children. It was the blessing of parenthood that awakened me from the state of "autopilot" I was living in. The pressures of caring for others highlighted my emotional reactivity and the limiting patterns of thinking and behaviour that affected me. That is when I began to explore my inner landscape.
My growing self-awareness led me to retrain as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I loved learning about the various psychological theories and approaches to mental wellbeing. However, I always sensed that far too much emphasis was placed on thoughts and behaviour and far too little on emotions. The more I learned about trauma and the subconscious mind, the more I understood that accessing and processing difficult emotions were the key to changing core beliefs, recalcitrant thought patterns and behaviours, as well as alleviating physical illnesses. As a result, I began to develop my own therapeutic style and tools to enable clients to change deeply ingrained limiting beliefs and patterns.
Concurrently, my daughter's mental health and neurodivergent challenges helped me realise I was neurodivergent too. I have since devoted myself to understanding and supporting neurodivergent adults and parents of neurodiverse children to help them make meaning of their life path and self and/or clinical diagnosis.
I have been a therapist for almost 10 years now, working virtually by video call and phone. In that time I have supported countless individuals from the UK and all over the world. I have integrated my own personal life experience with what I have studied and learned professionally. Furthermore, I am a deeply introspective and spiritual person. It informs everything I do. This has enabled me to be clear about who I am and what I have to offer.
I am a relational integrative therapist who specialises in trauma, emotional healing, neurodivergent therapy and workplace support. As a therapist, I have many tools on my tool belt which I draw from such as as Humanistic, Psychodynamic, CBT, NLP, hypnotherapy, parts therapy, transactional analysis...to name a few of the most recognisable.
As a supervisor, I aim to provide a safe and supportive relationship, which I tailor to meet the professional, developmental and relational needs and desires of the supervisee.
